ANNOUNCING: Young Voices' StateBeat Fellowship

It's no secret that local journalism is hurting right now. As media conglomerates buy state and local outlets, many important stories are left untold. Young Voices is aiming to change that with the launch of a new fellowship opportunity for our writers.

Supported by the State Policy Network (SPN), Young Voices' newly launched State Beat Fellowship is empowering our writers to report on pressing issues of federalism and state policy. Over the coming months, nine of our State Beat fellows will attend regular virtual state policy briefings from SPN-affiliated think tanks and produce monthly media hits on issues affecting their communities, to be placed in top state outlets.

We're already seeing results:

• Roy Mathews was seen recently in The Maine Wire, with a piece on solar energy and its failures in the state.
• Alexander Salter's op-ed on subduing immigration costs in Texas hit the the pages of The Fort-Worth Star Telegram.
