Young Voices' network is best known for its media hits, producing 160+ placements per month between op-eds and broadcast interviews to 6 million+ viewers. However, we are not just a content mill for young writers. We also offer learning opportunities for our best and brightest writers to sharpen their policy knowledge on pressing issues of the day, aided by learning and mentorship from think tank partners.
One of these core learning opportunities is our policy fellowships, six-month engagements that give select writers a deeper dive on an issue area with the expectation of producing written works on the topic for publication. This month, we held our second policy summit of the year for our Social Mobility Fellowship.
The summit featured a series of insightful panel discussions about alleviating poverty and economic damage in the United States as well as workshops on reporting. Fellows learned from experts from the American Enterprise Institute, Archbridge Institute, Cato Institute, Pacific Legal Foundation, R Street Institute, and Reason Foundation. Our fellows toured DC Central Kitchen to see how community kitchens alleviate hunger on the ground. The summit also included a public event on housing affordability at Altria's DC headquarters (recording available here).

In the following five months, each fellow will produce two pieces of original journalism on social issues including entrepreneurial freedom, consumer empowerment, and poverty alleviation. I'll be sure to share the highlights as they're published as well as our fellowship plans for 2024, which are already underway.
