Nolan Gray is the research director for California YIMBY. Gray earned a Master of City and Regional Planning degree at Rutgers University and received BAs in philosophy and political science from the University of Kentucky. He was a Research Fellow in the Urbanity Project at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. His research focuses on land-use regulation, housing affordability, and urban design. Nolan’s work has been featured in City Lab, Forbes, Cheddar, Reason and The Guardian. In 2018, he won the Young Voices Award, presented by Reason, for impactful scholarship by writers under 30. Gray is the author of Arbitrary Lines: How Zoning Broke The American City And How To Fix It (Island Press).
